Exploring producers presets in Eloy Drums

At Bogren Digital, we love collaborating with talented musicians and producers on new products. The most recent of those collaborations has been with Jakob Herrmann — producer, engineer, and drum tech, who runs the cool Top Floor Studios in the heart of Gothenburg, Sweden. We caught up with Jakob to get a few words on his background, current work, and how the mighty The Heaviest Cab in the World IR Pack came to be.
We ❤️ Presets!

Presets are a wonderful way of taking big strides towards the sound you want in a short amount of time.
At BD we spend a great deal of time finessing these presets and often even enlisting the help of big-name producer friends to craft their own.
In Eloy Drums we have incredible presets from Jens Bogren (of course), but also from this amazing group of production geniuses:
- Tue Madsen (Meshuggah, Behemoth, August Burns Red)
- Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Motörhead, Bullet For My Valentine)
- Scott Atkins (Cradle Of Filth, Sylosis, Vader)
- Dan Swanö (Opeth, Katatonia, Bloodbath)
- Max Morton (Jinjer, IGNEA, Shokran)
- Jakob Herrmann (Devin Townsend, Vola, Evergrey)
- Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Archspire; Khemmis)
- Lasse Lammert (Alestorm, Gloryhammer, Wind Rose)
- Alexander Backlund (Soen, Dark Tranquillity, October Tide)
- Ricardo Borges (Hiraes, Erdling, Destinity)
- Johan Martin (Signal Collapse, Edensong, Bachelor's Grove)
- Linus Corneliusson (Ihsahn, James LaBrie, Ostfront)
So, it’s pretty unlikely that you won’t find a sound you like in such esteemed company!
It’s always inspiring to get started with a finished sound.
The Problem
In Kontakt 8, the default view changes the layout from Kontakt 7. One of the differences is that the presets or ‘Snapshots’ are not shown by default when loading a Kontakt instrument - eek!
But wait! There’s no need to fear. We’re here to tell you how to get them back…

Luckily, this isn’t rocket science! By default, Kontakt 8 will look like this:

The first step is to click on ‘VIEW’ in the header bar. Doing so will bring up these options.

If you click ‘Classic View’, you’ll be back to having presets!
As simple as that.

Alternative Methods
If you just want to display the relevant information (ie. presets) and maintain the Kontakt 8 default view, then here are a few alternative methods.
Instrument Header
Click on ‘VIEW’ in the header bar and then select ‘Instrument Header’.

Side Pane
Once again, click on ‘VIEW’ in the header bar and then select ‘Side Pane’.
